Success Academy Youth Initiatives – is a unique multifaceted menu of programs designed to engage youth and families as early as birth leading up to 18 years of age.
After-School Enrichment Program
The After – School Enrichment Program (ASEP) is a 10 month initiative geared towards youth between the ages 6 -12 years old who attend schools in the FWS catchment area. Students have the ability to attend the free program from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday during the academic calendar. Violence, substance abuse and crime prevention are the cornerstones of the After – School Enrichment Program. The framework encompasses structured tutorial, homework help, arts and crafts, as well as recreation and fitness instruction.
Summer Enrichment Program
Summer Enrichment Program is a 9 -12 week initiative held during summer vacation on FWS’s main campus. The program is designed to nurture youth utilizing comprehensive strategies to help strengthen literacy, math skills, cultural enrichment and violence prevention with weekly field trips.
Teen Center/ College Tour
Teen Center programing operates at Franklin – Wright’s main campus holding meetings and workshops twice a week after school hours for youth 13 – 18 years old. The program is designed to increase high school graduation rates, promote enhanced social competencies, teach vocational training and reduce youth violence. The program facilitates life-skills development, academic support, community activism and offers culturally based field trips as well as nutritious meals and snacks. This 10 month series culminates with a select group of middle and high school students designing a week long national college tour of institutions of higher learning located across the United States. During these informative visits the teens explore college campus, curriculum and career opportunities with the opportunity to meet admissions staff, financial aid advisors, professors and most importantly, active students. To date Franklin – Wright has a 100% success rate of college entry with many Success Academy participants being granted on-site admission.
